Were you born after 1960? Well...even if you were born before that, chances are you've eaten McDonalds, listened to an iPod and used the Internet at least once. Which means, that you my friend have participated in Globalisation, and you're a member of the Global community...Welcome to iWorld!
Now I bet you're thinking "What has Globalisation got to with me...and why is it so important?" Globalisation means that human beings are more connected with each other than ever before. There are few places that it takes more than a day to travel to!
Globalisation has brought HUGE advances to the modern world, but it's also brought some HUGE problems. In Australia we see many of the benefits of a Globalised world. But, not everyone gets the same chance:
Although Globalisation is around us everyday, it's up to us to decide what kind of Globalised world we want to live in. We are members of iWorld...and the world is in our hands.
When you reach for your favourite snacks at the supermarket do you check the label to see where it was made, or even what it's made with?
Do you buy a certain company's product because they've got funny commercials? Or do you use other information to make your choice?
In this Webquest you will start to become more aware of how Globalisation affects your daily life, and the impact that YOUR actions can have on a local and global scale! Globalisation has been around for a long time. And with advances in technology being made everyday, it's fair to say that your world in the future will be even MORE Globalised than it is today!
Your mission in this Webquest is to find out:
"How can my actions as an informed consumer affect the way Globalisation shapes my world?
Do you buy a certain company's product because they've got funny commercials? Or do you use other information to make your choice?

This isn’t an easy question to answer. You'll have to do a lot of digging, but don't worry. Since we live in a Global world, you won't be working on your own! You’ll be working together in small groups: combining your research, sharing tasks and ideas, learning about the world we live in and figuring out what you can do to change it! So grab a shovel and dig in!
